1 - The Woodlands :( I have absolutely heard of Sugar Land and totally missed the giant hint that they were all cities starting with Sugar; I was just trying to think of the biggest Houston suburb I could name. D0

4 - Lot :) No idea how I knew this one, but it bubbled up. I'm not particularly religious but I felt like I had heard of Lot's wife as some sort of figure of speech? D2

5 - ?? :( Never heard of this show even after I see the right answer. D3

6 - Nordic :) I think I am lucky that "skiing" isn't a category on its own, because my sports record is otherwise dismal. D1

I lost 3(2) to 4(4), which at least makes me happy that I couldn't have won if I assigned points differently. That gives me a final ranking of 14th place in Rundle R Avalon, with a record of 11-10-4. Unfortunately, I think that's pretty dismal because there seemed to be a lot of people who forfeited various days, whereas I played every day! But I still had a blast and look forward to the next league :)

 Happy end of season everyone! It's been a pleasure.  I thought I ran the table today, but I'll happily take 5/6 to finish the season.  Dave, I hope you get promoted, Avalon B is much friendlier than Sierra B.

1) Sugarland 1/2  I think there's a country band named Sugarland Express

2) The Smiths 2/3  Psyched and surprised to get this, a very satisfying pull   I spent waaaaayyyyy too much time figuring it out.  Not that it was easy and it shouldn't have taken me that long, but that it consumed me and I didn't get work done. I couldn't think of anyone like Sting or Slash who fit the no-first-name bill.  I tried "ordinary" out with regular, plain, routine, etc, which got me nowhere.  I tried 'technically inaccurate' names like twins, boys, girls, quintet, nothing popped up there.   Went through every 80s rock band I could think of, nothing doing.  Finally I realized it was probably outside of my rock wheelhouse, and I thought of the Long Island indie rock radio stations, and thought The Smiths fit "ordinary" and "inaccurate" criteria, as he made a point of dancing around last names.  I cannot name a song by them nor have any idea who the person in question is (oh, Morrissey, thanks Dave M!).  

3) Diesel 1/1 This was asked very recently, and I got it wrong, but I learned that diesel engines don't have spark plugs because they're compression ignition.

4) Lot 0/0 Easiest of the season?  

5) RWBY 3/2  I came across RWBY recently and was psyched to get such a hard question correct, but no go.

6) Nordic 2/1

A middling 3/6 to wind out the season. I'll probably lose, #2 in Rundle D will probably win, and I'll end up 2^nd in the rundle after being first since the beginning of this round. But hey either way I'm C bound next season.

1. Sugarland :), D01. I’d heard of this but didn’t realize it was two words. I think this will still pay, but I was overly optimistic once this season, so not certain.

3. Diesel :), D10. I recognized the description of a diesel engine right away and then spent time thinking about who could have invented that. Then I realized, the name itself actually sounded German.
