 Welcome back everyone!  Glad to see so many posts already!   5/6 to start the season. 

1) Newfoundland 1/2  First thought was Labrador, but not knowing Labrador was a peninsula, thought that doesn't seem like a British breed.  Then I thought it had to be up in Nunavut or Alaska given the Inuit(?) connection, but had no clue up there.  Then went back to Labrador and realized the answer had to be Newfoundland... oh well.   Hopefully this doesn't cost me the match. Hated giving Dave a 2 in geography, but had no choice given the rest of the questions. 

2) Bond 3/3 Eyes are not enough... Cyclops?  Then realized it meant The World Is Not Enough, which is the name of a James Bond film. 

3) pH 2/1 Straightforward definition of pH in the question.

4) Ford 1/0  Famous 1934 Michigan football player was likely Ford, the allusion to his presidency cinched it. It's been said it's a shame he's best remembered for Chevy Chase's pratfalls given he was such a great athlete.

5) Paris 0/1  All over the news, how dare you ask the French to work five days a week?!?!?! Or something to that effect.

6) Pickles 2/2 Shocked to get his. Had absolutely no idea, all I know is there's a famous Rugrats Chanukah special. But with one of the characters named Dil, I took a guess.  I wonder if this is something Dave watched growing up, while I was in college.

Laura - Day 1

Hooray for a new season! I was doing very poorly at most of the one days I tried, and am excited for the grab bag of a regular season. I am in Rundle D, a testament to how poorly I did as a rookie ;) On that note, I thought I did well today, until I saw the answers. Not so much - I only got 1 of 6! But I'm excited to be back to it.

1 - Newfoundland :( I was confident in this until proven wrong. D00

2 - Bridgerton :( This was a guess of something that was British, a book, and a TV show, but in hindsight, they probably would have specified first and last name to get to an individual. D21

3 - Periodic number :( PH is obvious in hindsight! D11

5 - New York :( Hadn't heard of this but New York seemed like a good bet. D33

4/6 to start today but against strong opponents so don't think it will be good enough.

4/6. Welcome back all. For this season I got promoted to B, where I’ve never been able to hack it. So I expect to be back in C next season. 

1. Corgi :(, D33. This was really gettable, and I’m regretting my D. 
2. Sherlock Holmes :(, D21. I had no idea. Feeling good about giving Brian a low D here. 
3. pH :), D11. I felt pretty good about this answer, though the scientist’s name was no help. Just didn’t see another context that would work for protons rather than electrons. 
4. Ford :), D22. My favorite question of the day and likely to be one of my favorites for the season. The Michigan, football history, and not elected clues made me very confident here. 
5. Paris :), D02. Yuck. I remember this. 
6. Pickles :), D10. Right in the narrow area of time where I could get this. I watched this way back in the day.
