Dave M day 23 v Brad LLL
A 4/6 today which I expect to still be loss-making by poor defense on the literature question, which seems to have had a good get rate.
1 : ( No idea, guessed Kaiser Wilhelm. No idea who R Mutt is. D22
2 : ) Random guess of the only American novel of the time that came to mind. I’ve never read the book. Poor D33
3 : ( I got hung up on Westbury the location, tried to think of NY sitcoms, and ended up with Everybody Loves Raymond (which I never actually watched). D21
4 : ) I read and loved the novel Shogun when in high school. D10
5 : ) Geography gimme – unlike Jesse the Pacific is my strongest geography area. D02
6 : ) Snoop Dogg. Based on 2000’s unforgettable ‘forgot about Dre’ I narrowed it down to Ice-T or Snoop and picked the right way as Ice-T seems a bit earlier. Jesse I’m certain you’ll get paid on Snoop Doggy Dogg. D11
Brian Day 23 vs Will
1) Wilson. No chance and no idea what this is. 2/1
2) To Kill A Mockingbird. An educated guess, but one I thought I had no chance of getting. Have never read it (nor seen it, I hear the Sorkin play is excellent) so I don't know Dill, and I know nothing of Capote. But Idabel sounded like a woman, so I chose Harper Lee for Truman's friend, one of the few famous mid-century famous female authors I could think of. Surprised I got it correct, should get me a few points in a weaker category, but now doubting my defense in such a classic novel. 3/3
3) The Munsters. Gimme for me, but neither of my opponents knew SCTV, and this is even further back. I'm expecting a lot of Addams Family answers for this one. 2/2
4) Bushido. I wrote a report on samurai (and read the Ronin comic book) in 9th grade. not sure how well known this is, hope I'm right about defense. 1/0
5) Tahiti. The only question of the day I felt comfortable with on defense. 0/1
6) biggie smalls. Figured it was BIG or Tupac. But i can't name a single song by any rap group since Run DMC, and I didn't understand why it was a big deal that Snoop performed at the frat party in Old School, so this is not my wheelhouse. Jesse, I would give you credit for Snoop Doggy Dogg. I'd also give you credit for Snoopy, Woodstock, and Linus. Clearly Dave S is the west coast rap afficionado. 1/2

2/6 - assume I lost on bad D
1 :( John D22
2 :) To Kill a Mocking Bird. I knew of the friendship and almost wrote the author. While I have a hard time remembering Dill too, I still thought this was it. D22
3 :( The Addams Family. Ugh. So close. I didn't thing the Addams family fit sitcom but I could picture the sister and monsters. D11
4 :(. Nope. Of course Ben would know this. D33
5 :( Bora Bora. Or Tahiti. Wrong pick. D10
6 :) Snoop Dogg. D01

1. Marx :(, D11. No idea at all.
2. On the Road :(, D32. Worried my defense is too high here. I considered To Kill a Mockingbird, which I read in middle school, but I didn't--and still don't--remember a character named Dill.
3. The Twilight Zone :(, D22. No clue, though admittedly this answer didn't quite fit the question.
4. Bushido :), D11. Pulled this from somewhere in my brain. Not exactly sure how I know this, but I've heard the term and was pretty confident it was correct.
5. Tahiti :), D00. I tried to overthink this and considered briefly whether New Caledonia was part of French Polynesia. I quickly concluded it wasn't, so I got this question, which should have been a gimme for me.
6. Snoop Dogg :), D23. A rare pop music correct answer from me. I didn't know this was right, but I did know that the two were linked, so I felt pretty good about this.
