2 :( Fleur de Lis. Just couldn't think of what this would be. Have heard of Star Chamber but likely wouldn't have gotten it. D0
3 :) Dancing with the Stars. Phew. DOn't watch it, but a safe bet. D2
4 :( Granite. Thought that was sedimentary too, even if I knew it wasn't right. Probably wouldn't have come up with limestone. D2
5 :( Richelieu. I tune out when it comes to "futbol." D1
6 :) Ohare. Don't know why but just thought this might be right - def a hub, and Germans seem midwestern? Hoping I didn't need a more full version of the name. D3

Welcome back everyone! First things first, Andy bailed on Learned League this season, so I propose we change the name of our private league to the Levinson Memorial League.
4/6 today when I thought at first I'd have only two, so I'm happy.
1) Elmer's. Which is sort of the opposite of the correct answer. I think this could be difficult, UL is so diversified there'll probably be a wide range of guesses. 2/2
2) Star Chamber. Wow, I really can't believe this is correct. The question reminded me of the movie Star Chamber, which was on HBO all the time when I was a kid, and involved a secretive group and their devious plans. I put the name in as a guess in case this is how the movie got its name. 2/3
3) Dancing with the Stars. Dear lord Kelly Monaco... sorry what was I saying? Yes, I first heard of Kelly Monaco after she won DWTS, and I'm aware Drew Lachey and Hines Ward were on it also, so that clinched it. 3/2
4) Limestone. Was pretty confident chalk is related to limestone. 1/0
5) Vichy. No chance here. But my opponents call soccer 'football'. 0/1
6) O'Hare Airport. I'm assuming I don't need the word International. This was very satisfying when I figured it out. I was stuck on Grand Central for awhile until I realized it wasn't big enough, then German-American took me to Milwaukee, got me to bratwursts, got me to Da Bears skit on SNL, then I remembered the symbol for the airport, which matched Orchard Place. I think I made this harder than it had to be, as there are only a few transportation hubs in the U.S. that could reasonably be expected to be known for this question, GCT, Dulles, LaGuardia, JFK, LAX and O'Hare. 1/1
Despite Ben screwing with my defense , I eke out a 4(4)-3(3) win.

A great opening day for me with 5/6 though poor defense on a TV question may kill it, as it seems like a high scoring day so far.
1 : ) Titusville PA in 1870 is the beginning of the modern oil industry + Ponds/Unilever so must be a beauty product, only product that links the two is Petroleum Jelly, so must be Vaseline. Pleased to get this one. D11
2 : ) Star Chamber just came to mind and fit really well. I’m with Carr, why is this mentioned in the WSJ all the time? I prefer the FT for my business news so haven’t seen it mentioned. D22
3 : ( I was confident Adam Rippon was on American Idol but now remember I was thinking of Adam Lambert. Rippon must be the Olympic ice skater in that case. Poor defense D23

Welcome back, all! I found today very tricky but pulled off a 4/6 with some lucky guesses. Maybe it’s just that I’m out of practice, but I found D very tough to assign today.
1. Vaseline :), D11. I was totally stumped when I read this, but the Ponds made me think it was something kind of in the makeup family. The timing also led me to think a petroleum product could work. But I really didn’t think it would be right.
2. Star Chamber :), D20. Only gimme of the day for me. A solid British history question.
3. NFL Sunday Night :(, D22. Even I should have been able to venture a better guess than this. This seems like a 90% correct question.
4. Limestone :), D12. Seemed like the obvious guess. I figured this was either correct or the MCW.
5. St. Denis :(, D33. Really thought I had this based only on the geography, but now I see that St. Denis is more north than west of Paris. The soccer clue meant nothing to me.
6. O’Hare :), D01. I thought I remembered hearing this history of this once. Maybe I’m just making that up, but either way I felt pretty confident this was Chicago.

I was closer when I first looked 2 days ago but given it still hadn't come to me I just threw in an answer I knew was wrong. Assume if I don't know a soccer q, neither does Brian. Also, I'm hoping this draws a low D from him. D13
