1 :( vindaloo. I was tossing up between vindaloo and masala, but wouldn't have put the garam even if I'd ruled out vindaloo

2 :) Chicago. Was all at see until The Jungle. Was definitely in the British Isles until that.

3 :( Dominion. I should have put more stock in the 'rebranding' part of the clue. Not sure it would have helped.

4 :) Fatima. Got that from Muhammad. Didn't have an in on the Christian bit.

Second 6/6 of the season today, the day of the Davids.

 

1 : ) Garam Masala. Knew this was the base spice mixture for most curries.

2 : ) Chicago. This was the one I wasn't confident on but they somwhow seemed like books set in a big city in Middle America.

3 : ) Facebook. Remember when this was in the news.

4 : ) Fatima. I've been to Portugal a few times.

5 : ) Bhutan. Druk Air is also what got this for me.

6 : ) Penzance. I briefly lived in the west of England (Swindon) and sometimes the trains I got back from London were bound for Penzance which is the last stop on the line to Cornwall.

 Ben's unreliability not withstanding, I'd like to say how enjoyable this blog is with so many participants.   Thank you everyone.

4/6 today.   

1) Tiki Masala 2/2 I rarely eat Indian,  and only know this and curry, never heard of garam masala

2) Baltimore 1/3  I've only read The Jungle on this list, and it was too long ago for me to remember the setting. 

3) Facebook 1/0  Timing seemed right for the Meta name change, and I vaguely recall the testimony.

4) Fatima 2/2 Was pretty sure the Fatimid Dynasty was named after Muhammed's daughter

5) Bhutan 3/1 Educated guess, Nepal and Bhutan seemed like the countries that would have these cool sounding names, and since Nepal is known for its mountains I hoped Bhutan was known for its valleys.

6) Penzance 0/1  While I'm familiar with web sites which pirate comic books, I thought it more likely that comic piracy was referring to the Gilbert & Sullivan classic. 1880s seemed about right for The Pirates of Penzance to be a contemporaneous reference.

I am shocked this was right. I saw the word piracy and immediately thought of the Pirates of Penzance. I know nothing beyond the name and didn't know Penzance was in England but it was better than my other guess, which would be Brighton.
