As usual, an opening day posting.

1 :) Tito. Enjoyed this question. Tito took me 1 minute, but obviously the strongman hint confirmed I had it right.

2 :) Superman. Spent way too long on this, and trying to understand "ideal of humanity", being overly focussed on a word like "deliverance" or "unforgiven". Again, hint confirmed the answer once I had it.

3 :) BlueManGroup. Hat tip to Tobias Funke.

5 :( calorie. Proving to Mirkin that it is not a gimme for ppl in energy finance! I hate non-metric units. I figured we were talking kcal and the amount of energy seemed right order of magnitude. Ends up being off by a factor of 4 so I stand by my order of magnitude. BTU didn't cross my mind.

6 :( Chevy. Zero name recognition here. I'm really only following news about the Middle East right now. I haven't read a single article about the UAW strike so nada here.

Welcome back everyone!  I'm happy for the sense of normality Learned League brings to a messed up world.  

Beginning the season with a six pack and one of my new all-time favorite questions.

1) Tito 2/3 Thought process:  Strongman? Like Schwarzeneggar, or like Mussolini? Jermaine, Marlon, Michael...that's the Jackson Five...    I then nearly spit out my coffee laughing when I realized Tito was the missing Jackson.   Excellent question.

2) Superman 1/2  I almost blew a comic book question, as I got stuck on the title Thus Spake Zarathustra, which I only know from the music of 2001 A Space Odyssey, and missed that it was Nietzsche.  I was ready to submit utopia as a wag, when I thought of ideal perhaps being uber in German, then did a head slap as I noticed Nietzsche in the question.  

3) Blue Man Group  1/0 Gimme for NYers and viewers of Arrested Development.  Yes, I'm afraid I blue myself

4) Junk 0/2 I always got a chuckle out of this in social studies.

5) BTU 2/1 Physics and ConEd gimme

6) Stellantis 3/1 Biz question, hate the name

An unexpected 5/6 to start off the season. 

1. James :(, D30. I got the Jackson 5 reference but had no idea who the fifth person was. Dave M, I think you were thinking of the infamous baseball player with Joe Jackson. 

2. Superman :), D11. I knew this from Nietsche. The movie clue just confirmed it for me.

3. Blue Man Group :), D22. Very surprised this is right. I had no idea they had albums. 

4. Junk :), D12. Cute question. 

5. BTU :), D03. I wasn’t confident here, but I ruled out calorie and joule, plus the abbreviation clue helped. 

6. Stellantis :), D21. Gimme given the recent strikes. Otherwise I’m not sure how this one would have gone for me.
