Ben Day 25 v Mann and Will

Is anybody else's gmail taking ages to autocomplete emails suddenly?

4/6 after 2 poor days. Likely will stay in D despite my PB TCA

1 :( Bright lights. I knew it wasn't right but was never going to get the exact right name, and Thorsten's clue wasn't enough to get me there. This song is in Lissy's workout mix that I've been listening to basically every morning since Dec1. Great song. When I first heard it I assumed it was 80s.
2 :) Battle of Hastings. Covered this in yr 7 or 8 in school in Australia.
3 :) vine. I didn't realize this had died on the vine.
4 :( Straight. YEKIOYD
5 :) Single Lens. I know this from my canon days.
6 :) GME. Ending the season on an easy note.

A 5/6 to round out the season and I suspect that will keep me at the top of D and promotion bound. See you all next season

1 : ) Blinding Lights. I read this in grammy related news, I can’t actually recall the song. D02

2 : ) Battle of Hastings. Simple-ish world history question but that’s a weak category for my opponents. D32

3 : ) Vine. I never used it but remember hearing about its demise. D11

4 : ( Golden. I had no idea so used a term I’ve heard related to hat-tricks in Cricket. D23

5 : ) Single Lens. A guessed based on this being the outcome of using the contraption listed in the clue. D20

6 : ) GME. I feel this could be a gimme for others but not entirely sure. D11

Brian Day 25 vs FriedlandMJ

4/6 to end the season.  I'm on the cusp of promotion, but it's unlikely.  I had by far my best season, beating my previous best by 13 correct answers.  I chalk that up to random luck in the questions and expect to be pummeled  next season. Now I'm looking forward to baseball, my second vaccination, and eventually in-person pub trivia.  Happy Pesach, Easter, and a return to normalcy to you all!

1) Lit 3/3  No clue

2) Battle of Hastings 0/0  A very convoluted way of asking an essential world history question

3) Vine 1/1

4) Top 2/2 Never heard of this, but go Islanders!

5) Single lens 1/1

6) GME 2/2  Despite being all over the news, I assume knowing the actual ticker symbol is difficult.

2/6 Another poor performance. I currently stand at one spot above relegation. Guessing this will send me over the edge.

1. Most likely the song of the summer of 2020, and the #1 pop song on Billboard's chart for the year, was an 80s-esque smash by The Weeknd whose title could also describe some streetside home exteriors during the Christmas season. What is that title?
Correct Answer: BLINDING LIGHTS
Your Answer: Flashing and colorful
Points Assigned: 1

I pretty much do not listen to current music.

2. The Great Fire of London began on September 2, 1666. Name the other pivotal event that occurred (from start to finish) on a day almost exactly 600 years prior (minus 42 days), and about 50 miles to the southeast.
Correct Answer: BATTLE OF HASTINGS
Your Answer: Signing of the Magna Carta
Points Assigned: 2

I had no idea.

3. Six-second-long video clips were the content on what social network and video service that was founded in 2012, acquired by Twitter that same year, formally released in 2013, and discontinued by 2017?
Correct Answer: VINE
Your Answer: Vine
Points Assigned: 1

Ahead of their time.

4. When a player scores three goals in a game in ice hockey, it's a hat trick. What adjective is commonly used to describe a hat trick when those three goals are scored by the player consecutively, with no other goals scored by any other player on either team in between those three?
Correct Answer: NATURAL
Your Answer: Glorious
Points Assigned: 0

I had no idea. I don't watch hockey.

5. A trademark of an SLR camera (and the digital DSLR) is the mirror and prism system (hence the R for "reflex") that permits the photographer to see through the viewfinder exactly the same image that will be exposed. This system also allows the camera to have what's indicated by the SL, which stands for what two words?
Correct Answer: SINGLE LENS
Your Answer: Single Lens
Points Assigned: 2

I was a professional photographer in my early twenties, so I better know this one.

6. What is the three-letter NYSE ticker symbol for the video game retailer GameStop?
Correct Answer: GME
Your Answer: GST
Points Assigned: 3

Nope.

Seif Day 25

4/6 to end the season.  I'm mercifully bound for relegation no matter how today goes.

1. Blinding Lights :), D12.  An ultra-rare pop music gimme for me.

2. Battle of Hastings :), D33.  Great question, though I'm wondering how "Norman Conquest" would be scored.  I guess the idea that it all happened in one day should make it fairly clear.  Except for trying to figure out whether to put the battle itself or Norman Conquest, this was a gimme for me, but I think it will play hard overall.

3. Snap :(, D20.  No idea.  I have no memory of this at all.

4. Top :(, D01.  Never heard of this term.

5. Single Lens :), D12.  Didn't know this, but it was the obvious guess.

6. GME :), D21.  I have nothing nice to say about this, so I won't say anything at all.

Have a great offseason, everyone!

1/6. Probably cost myself promotion with this effort and my atrocious D this season.

1 :( Redshirts. YEKIOYD
2 :( Wallce. Seif missing this makes me feel better. I've only thought about it in a financial context for 15 years.
3 :( Kwai. Bad geography miss.
4 :( Mars. I would have gotten the equivalent question on Australian candy, but I don't know my US chocolate bars.
5 :) Palm. I was terrified this might be Blackberry and glad I didn't flip that Kosman Koin.
6 :( Atlanta. YEKIOYD.
