Pelc Day 1 vs Mirkin

Let me start with my seasonal day 1 apology for never doing this anymore coupled with an empty promise that I'll try harder to post more often because I really do enjoy it. 

I was relegated to Rundle C for the first time in a while this season, hoping to make it back to B. 

I am also no longer in Sierra, I was moved to one of the new divisions: Polaris - I assume there's a reason for it but have no idea. Only practical difference here is that I won't have any LL matches against LLL members this season.

5/6 today, really should have been 6/6 but didn't read a question closely enough - these were right in my wheelhouse.

1. :) - Never saw the episode but knew enough about the show that it all fit. D12

2. :) - Happy I got this one, didn't particularly remember the actual quotes in the question but it all fit with "The Revolution will not be televised." D22

3. :) - Love this movie - assume even casual fans of it would forget this so D33.

4. :( - Spent more time on all the questions I didn't know outright and on this one I rushed for some reason and said 'European city with female name = Sofia' instead of 'prominent female in the Crimean War = Florence Nightingale' D11

5. :) - Gimme D00

6. :) - I think I knew this anyway but recently watched this show on Apple TV+, For All Mankind, that helped me get there. D21

 A nice start to the season with 6/6.  I look forward to a robust posting environment on this blog.  

1) Leave It To Beaver 1/2 Made the most sense.

2) The Revolution 3/2 The only answer today I wasn't sure of, but it fit and I hoped this was the source of 'the revolution will not be televised'.

3) PC Load Letter 1/0 WHAT THE FUCK IS PC LOAD LETTER?!?   I can picture Ben quoting this

4) Florence 2/1 Prominent woman in Crimean War = Nightingale

5) Sears 2/3  Gimme for me.I grew up being dragged to Sears by my mom for clothes, and by my dad to shop for Craftsman tools and Kenmore appliances.

6) Tranquility 0/1

Addendum:  I guess I was picturing Seif quoting Office Space.  I'm shocked by this.

2 : ) Revolution. I was at college in the “No Logo” anti-commercial time of 2000 or so and remember this poem prominently referred to, and outrage that I think Nike used it in a commercial. D12

4 : ) Florence. I think Florence Nightingale is the only women of prominence during Crimean War, so was simple from there. D12

5 : ) Sears. I read about them selling the brand although can’t remember if it was before or after their bankruptcy. D00

Welcome back, all! Hope everyone had a good offseason.

5/6 today on a friendly day for me, and actually had a chance at all 6.

1. Leave It to Beaver :), D01.  Very lucky guess to start things out.  I didn't have any expectation that this was right.  Low D b/c both of my opponents are very good at TV (unlike me).

2. The Revolution :), D22.  Pretty famous poem, so I was pretty confident here.  I hope my D wasn't too high.

3. PC Load Letter :), D12.  Office Space may be the funniest movie ever written.  Gimme.

4. Florence :), D33.  Great question.  I'm not sure the D33 was right, but I think this is tricky.  One has to combine the history and geography.  Plus getting thrown by Sophia (which was the answer to a similar question a few seasons ago) would be easy.

5. Target :(, D20.  What was I thinking here?  This was very gettable.

6. Tranquility :), D11.  Moon gimme.  (Not sure that's a term, but I'm making it one.)
