Re: Debbie Day 12

Feeling ok about my 2/6 - didn't know these or would have been very tough to get

1 :) motorcycle.  feels like a very well-known book

2 :) Galapagos.  also feels well-known

3 :( pirouette.  nope.  I guess deep down somewhere I may have known this but doubt I could have pulled it out.

4 :( Olivia.  until I read this page I still had no idea who these people were. Was thinking maybe rich kids whose parents paid money  / got caught trying to get them into college?

5 :( butterflies.  figured it was wrong but doesn't that happen in some play?  esp w reference to metamorphosis

6 :( negroni.  don't really know my drinks.

Ben Day 12

expected 3/6. 2(3) tie with Seif

1 :) motorcycle. Well known.
2 :) galapagos. Spanish + Darwin.
3 :( Baroque. The word was at the tip of my brain
4 :( Emma. I wonder if I should hate tiktok as much as I hate reality TV. Seems as vacuous.
5 :( Dogs. Not guessable.
6 :) Bellini. We drank Bellinis after our City Hall wedding.

Brian Day 12 vs Seif (LL) and Kim (CC)

3/6 on a tough day. Tough questions, tough defense.

1) Motorcycle 2/2  No idea how well known this is.

2) Galapagos Islands 0/1  I'm sure Dave got a chuckle as I did, this was asked last night at our pub trivia

3) Minaret 1/1  Had no idea, figured Dave could have an in through the Moorish aspect

4) Charli 3/2   My daughters were obsessed with them for a long time.  As annoying as TikTok is, Charli is probably one of the more wholesome dancers they could admire.  Dave hasn't exposed his girls to this horrid world yet.

5) Hippo 2/3  So close. I've heard of this, but I guess I only registered really large mammal.

6) Mimosa 1/0  Hoped it could also be made with prosecco.  I think Dave will know this.

Different questions correct, but Dave and I tie 3(3)-3(3)

David S Day 12 vs. Brian (LL) and Ben (CC)

3/6, which seems to me like it may be a very common score with the same 3 questions correct.  Up against Brian and Ben today.

1. Motorcycle :), D11.  Glad to come up with this.  It came to me pretty quickly, but at the same time it seems like something I might not have been able to get.  My guess is it plays pretty easy overall.

2. Galapagos :), D00.  Darwin makes this a gimme.

3. Plie :(, D22.  I felt like it was a small victory that I was able to come up with any ballet move.  Now that I see the answer, I realize I've heard of it in the context of architecture/design, and I'm a little bit worried I'm going to lose one or both matches on this question.

4. Sophia :(, D22.  Given that the question makes clear that 1) there's a current events aspect to it, 2) this takes place just a few miles from me, and 3) I had zero idea whatsoever, I was able to correctly conclude these were TikTok stars.  However, that in no way helped me come up with the answer.  Hopefully I'm not way off in predicting that this will not be gettable for Brian or Ben.

5. Dog :(, D33.  No idea.

6. Bellini :), D11.  An Italian mixed drink with prosecco left me with only one guess.  Glad it was right.
