1 :) D0/0 Wayne - I was picturing him as Rooster Cogburn with the eyepatch in True Grit.
2 :( D2/2 Manchester - I've heard this term before, considered Birmingham, but had a very strong (and incorrect) feeling that it was Manchester.
3 :) D1/1 Van deGraff - I used to joke about the Van de Kamps Generator that would make fish sticks stand on end.
4 :) D3/3 Wax - I know some artists that work in encaustics.
5 :) D1/1 Warren Commission - Initially had Tower Commission, before I corrected it.
6 :) D2/2 Strengths - Got this one while biking to work. It took awhile. I was trying to think of groups of consonants that can go together. I came up "STR" and "GHS" and figured it out.

​3/6. Should have been 4, kicking myself.  The low scores I'm seeing below give me some hope for victory,  which would catch me up to Jesse in C Rundle. 

1) John Wayne.  After I answered Wayne, the MCW, for the Elvis question, there was no way I was missing this.  0/2

2) Brisbane.  no idea 3/1

3) Tesla.  Mad at myself. Was thinking too much about TSLA's stock today, and pictured David Bowie using this in The Prestige. 2/2

4) Lye.  Lye is caustic, Ben, not acid.  That's a base-ic scientific fact.  But both are much more caustic than wax.  1/1

2/6. Playing Jesse in private. In the main league, a win today (vs 4th in the rundle) would guarantee promotion, so of course I got a measly 2

1 :( Brando. Definitely thought it was Brando, though the movie count does point to a prolific star of churned out movies that might have been too lowbrow for him. I can just picture him in an eyepatch for some reason.

2 :( guesses Cardiff. Birmingham crosses my mind because of the sound of Brummie, but I wasn't sure whether a local dialect could be spoken there so went with somewhere in Wales.

3 :) van de graff. Hopefully Jesse's lack of hair will set him at a disadvantage for his question. 

4 :( acid. Never heard of this. Why is wax caustic? Acid, now that's caustic.

5 :( patriotism committee. never heard of the answer.

2/6. Nothing broke in my favor today. Barring a forfeit on my part, I'm already guaranteed promotion to C next season, but I'd like to see if I can pull off a win in the rundle. 

1. Brando :(, D23. Obviously the patch is a big clue here, but I had no idea what it referred to. 

2. Newcastle :(, D12. I remember hearing this term about somewhere in England and know Newcastle has a very distinct dialect. Didn't think of Birmingham, so I had no match for the first letter. 

3. Geiger :(, D32. Dammit! I was so certain this was a Geiger counter I didn't even thing about it any more. I actually doubt I could have come up with Van de Graaff, so that makes me feel like that mistake didn't cost me anything.  

4. Oil :(, D21. No clue. 

5. Warren Commission :), D00. Should have been a total gimme, but I got thrown off my Ford, who I didn't realize was on it. But even with that, the date made it clear. 

6. Strengths :), D11. This has been within my random knowledge for years. I asked a shortened version of this exact question to Ben (and I think Andy) a few months ago. Ben got it in about 30 seconds. Maybe this one should have been the D00.
