Brian Day 25 vs MeyerE

2/6 to close out the season.  I finished in bottom third of my rundle in correct answers, but had by far the lowest answers against (65), yielding a 5th place finish. As opposed to poor Ben who had 90 correct answers against.  It's always amazing to me to see the spread in CAA, there's a lot of luck in LL rankings despite it being a skill-based league. I signed up for three of the mini-leagues, hope to see you there. Feliz Navidad and happy new year everyone!

1) Brut.  I feel a little silly missing this one. 1/1

2)vanderhook.  Knew it was wrong, I don't remember the Leyden jar 3/3

3)still life.  A rare art get for me, I know there are a lot of paintings with 'still life' in the title and I took a guess.  1/1

4)Chan.  Wasn't there a Shanghai Express with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson?  I didn't recognize the other movies but hoped they were Chan's Chinese films 2/2

5) Doric.  no clue.  2/2

6) The Greatest Show on Earth.  Ladies and gents, this is the moment you've waited for.  Between the movie and the Greatest Show on Turf, I don't see many people having trouble with this. 0/0

Total guess, but I was pretty sure Dom meant monk.

Shoot, seeing the answer now I should have known this.

I knew Cezanne produced a lot of still lifes.

I knew this from The Blue Angel and Blonde venus.

Ben day 25

3/6

1 :) Dom Perignon. Switched from Moët and hit one of my only 50/50s in a season where they have consistently run against me. I forgot what it feels like, not that it matters now. D1.
2 :( bell jar. I didn't think Bell was a Dutch town but I had never heard of a Rotterdam or Amsterdam jar.
3 :) still life. D0
4 :( Rita Hayworth. D3
5 :( lingam. No idea and glad I didn't waste too much time.D2
6 :) greatest show on earth. I d2ed here because I forgot there was a US sport reference. Does that make it easy?

Seif Day 25

1/6, and really had no chance at 4 of them. A two-day winning streak means that I'll avoid relegation even with a loss today, so it will be another season of struggles in B, to which I never really earned a promotion in the first place.

1. Mendel :(, D21. Ah, this was gettable, but I didn't realize "Dom" was a term for a monk.

2. Hague :(, D12. No clue.

3. Magical realism :(, D20. I've certainly heard the term, "still life," but I didn't know it counted as a genre.

4. Hayworth :(, D02. Nope!

5. Slip rhyme :(, D11. No clue.

6. The greatest show on earth :), D33. Without the football clue, I would have had a goose egg today. I knew the Rams were called "the greatest show on turf," which is how I got this. I don't think this is the hardest question of the day despite by D33, but I think it may be given my opponents' weaknesses.

It's been a blast this season. Until next year!

6 :( D2 Nope - Came up with other parts of speech. Interjection never came to mind.
