Hello friends - nice to be back!  But lame start for me of 2/6 on what should not have been too hard a day.

1 :) Dinosaur. Actually got this more from the Yankee Doodle reference...  I know who Barney is but he was after my time.  But  3 syllable dinosaur made sense with Yankee Doodle!  D1

2 :( Taiwan. Nope.  Was thinking Korea with the K but know that's a peninsula not island. D3

3 :( to my. Didn;t know this.  D2

4 :( planet. close but no cigar D2
5 :( cosmetics. Bummer I missed this!  I know the company but didn't think about it enough to thnk about the word Beauty. Assume this will be a no-go.  D0
6 :) Rowing.  Had to think about it a minute but then it made sense. D1

2 : ) Cyprus. Exact same thought process as Carr and Seif. Such a Greek acronym (or Basque, but that’s not an island). D22

3 : ( Back. Oh yeah now I remember that Welcome 2 America was released this year. D12

4 : ( Moon. I was in the right ballpark at least. D31

5 : ) Beauty. I remember reading that beauty warehouses like Ulta are one of the store-based retail niches continuing to do well. D11

Out of the gates with a bang! 6/6. Would not have ben surprised to get 3.

1 :) Dinosaur. easy start

2 :) Cyprus. I went through a number of what I thought might be described as island republics, and like Seif, felt that the acronym was Greekish. Figured the K might stand for cyprus, though I have no idea if it actually does. Lucky get.

3 :) 2. Can't believe I got this one, but from the wording I felt like it had to be a homophone.

4 :) Sun.

5 :) Beauty. I fell like I've heard of Ulta beauty. Is this one of those things that housewives foist on their friends? 

6 :) Rowing. Watched the event, but even if I hadn't, would have been an instaget.

Welcome back, all.  Once again, I'll go with "David S." rather than "Seif" until Steiny posts.  Let's hope we have a few more people on the blog than last season.

4/6 today to start out.  A fairly friendly set of questions for me.

1. Dinosaur :), D00.  Last season I said the first question of the season would possibly be the hardest of the season, a prediction that didn't age well.  But not to be deterred from making forecasts, I'll say that I think this one may prove to be the easiest.

2. Cyprus :), D11.  I think this is harder than the D11 I gave it, but that's based on my opponents' strengths.  The acronym looked Greek to me, so that led immediately to Cyprus given the island nation.

3. Back to :(, D23.  No idea.

4. Sun :), D12.  Not my favorite question, because although I knew what it was, I couldn't decide if this was the name of the shape that the sun made or of the graphic they put on globes.  So I ended up spending most of my time debating whether I should put sun or globe, both of which arguably could be accepted.

5. Beauty :), D21.  I was kind of surprised to get this.  I thought maybe I had heard of Ulta as a cosmetics company, but I didn't actually think this would be right.

6. Rugby :(, D32.  Ah, I can't believe rowing didn't occur to me.  I was thinking maybe he was the coach of a Rugby 7s team.
