Gimmie of the day.

Brian Day 14 vs Ben

It's good to be back.  I liked this week off, it stretches the season out a big longer.  5/6 vs CarrBen12

1) Time Warp. D3/2      Leeeetttt'sss Dooooo the Tiiiimmeee Wwwaarrrppp Agaaaiiiinnnnn  This was a staple at high school dances.  Ben strikes me as a Rocky Horror type of guy, but the other questions left me no choice but to assign him 2

2) Ilium 2/2  Ilium, by Dan Simmons, is a fantastic sci-fi book which uses the Iliad as a major plot point.

3) Bernaise 0/0  The one question I had doubts about today.

4) Carnegie 2/1 Took me a minute, but my memory was jogged by steel-->Pittsburgh-->Carnegie.

5) Entertainment Tonight (ET) 1/3    I hesitate to call this a news program, but Cosmo Kramer getting Mary Hart-induced seizures got me here.

6) Ice rink 1/1  This should have a huge get rate even for the non-sports folk

Seif Day 14

4/6.  I forgot that we didn't have this during Thanksgiving week and went through a bit of withdrawal.  Good to be back.  These questions seem perfect for my LL opponent, so I'm anticipating possibly getting 9(6)ed in LL.  Or maybe the LL gods will have mercy on me, since I'm already dead last in my rundle.

1. Time Warp :), D02.  If this is a gimme even for me, I think it should have a high get rate.

2. Lutetia :(, D32.  No idea, but very clever question.

3. Hollandaise :(, D20.  I debated for a while whether Hollandaise had cheese in it.  Eventually I figured that I might as well put it as my answer since I had no other guess.

4. Carnegie :), D13.  Should be easy if you know business or American history well, but pretty hard otherwise, I think.

5. Entertainment Tonight :), D11.  Surprised and happy to get this.  I spent most of my time on this one going through what it could be.  I figured (given the sexism of the early 80s) it could not be a sports show, but given that it's hosted by a former Sports Center host, it also couldn't be hard news show.  With those constraints and the fact that it's been running for almost 40 years, there weren't that many things to guess.

6. Ice Rink :), D21.  Gimme.

1. Walz :(, D3. Never heard of this person and thought maybe a good homophone for Wales with Polish-y spelling?  Maybe?

2. Pai Gow :(, D0. Doh! My dad would not be proud.  Do love me some Texas Hold'Em though

3. Patel :(, D1. Somewhere in my head i Knoew this but don't think I could have pulled it out.

4. Golden Gate :), D1. Late breaking correct answer.  Had no idea this was the name of the waterway.

5. House :), D2. Sing it Brian... Hey Now, Hey Now.

6. Lava :), D2. living in CA I am fortunate to have been to Hawaii and Volcanoes Natl Park several times
