Dave M day 13

5/6 today (I assume) against the number 1 in the Rundle – a reasonable shot as any at defeating him today, although I thought the questions were on the easier side.

1 :) Madonna. With the opponent strong in pop music and science, the only question was whether to give this or Q4 the D0. I D1ed this in the end.

2 :) I remember watching the final in 1998 at Jewish winter camp in Wainuiomata, New Zealand. D2

3 :( No idea – and never heard of the Tramp so was never going to get this one. D2

4 :) I hope that just Galileo will be sufficient for this one. D0

5 :) Opponent relatively weak in international affairs but Maastricht is a gimme for me and I expect to get a low score for it. D3

6 :) I picked this up from the name of the recent TV series. D1

Steiny Day 13

1. :) Very easy

2. :( Guessed Spain...so geographically close!!!

3. :( guessed Betty Boop

4. :) GImme D0..surprised I got it right because it seemed too easy

5. :( Based on yesterday's question I said Lisbon

6. :( I wrote pulp fiction thinking I was right...I was not

Gideon Day 12

5/6 today
1 :) D2 Merlin - I recognized it, but wasn't positive of the name.
2 :) D1 Theranos
3 :) D1 Exiting the European Union
4 :) D2 Fatah - I wonder how many people will put Hamas.
5 :( D3 Glass - looks like a strong MCW contender
6 :) D0 Stalagmite - I knew the answer, but had to be careful not to accidentally type stalactite.

Dave M day 12

I got the 4/6 that most of you got and on the same questions. Suspect it will be a close one today!

1 :( No idea – guessed blackjack owing to the ‘hit’ button. D2

2 :) Simple answer for an opponent strong in Business. A great article about Theranos in Vanity Fair this month if anyone’s interested. D0

3 :) but a :( in my soul. Maybe this should not be in current events but a new category of ‘potential events that may actually never happen’. D1

4 :) Straightforward ME question. D2

5 :( Pleased I D3d this as apparently nobody knows the answer. D3

6 :) My way of remembering – when mites go up the ballerina’s legs, her tights come down. D1

Ben Day 12

4/6. Pleasantly surprised. questions 2 through 4 are all very current eventy!

1 :( Atari.  I'm sure I've come across this at some point while looking into the history of video games, but I had no shot at rememebering this.
2 :) Theranos. All over the news and my facebook feed
3 :) "Exit from EU". Interested to see whether brexit is marked correctly.
4 :) Fatah. I almost put down the PA, and couldn't work out what Thorsten was asking for exactly until fatah came to mind.
5 :( I guessed Glass.
6 :) Stalagmite.  Will: Stalgmites MIGHT one day tough the ceiling and stalactites hang TIGHTly to the ceiling.

Steiny Day 12

1. :( heard the name but couldn;t come up with it, so went with ugly gameboy

2. :) This was in the news a lot this year

3. :) even more in the news this year

4. :) easy for someone who follows this to know fatah was continuation of PLO...didn't know it was a backronym but interesting

5. :( guessed Copeland

6. :( I knew this one and when I typed it I remembered the mnemonic wrong, so pissed at myself as this shoul dhave been easy, but probably D0
