Happy LL XCVI everybody! Glad to see so many familiar names in Rundle D Avalon, looks like the whole clan is back together!

 

3/6 today which seems to be a common number looking below.

 

1 : ) Combine. I always hear it as Combine Harvester so was a bit nervous but turned out OK. D00

2 : ( Holland. I had no idea so have decided to resort to pedantry around the rule that last name qualifies as correct unless the question specifies otherwise. I think a lawyer could successfully argue that the question doesn't rule out providing just the last name here. But I don't expect the points. D33

3 : ( Washington. I associated Tlingit with British Columbia Canada so was a bit flummoxed by the request for a US state. Went in the wrong direction along the coast. D22

4 : ( Semaphor. Did not think of a Bugle as a signalling device. D22

5 : ) Kraft Heinz. Gave the corporate entity but that should pay. Lucky escape as having not seen the ad I thought it would be on the Kraft side – something to do with Philadelphia Cream Cheese. D11

3 :( Washington. Deleted Alaska because it was so cold, but had it first based on area.

4 :( Flare. Having never heard of the plant, I was quite at sea here. Bugle/trumpet entered my mind, but I thought that would be older.

5 :) Heinz. Thanks to 57. At first I had 'Bamix' in there because it ends in a roman numeral, before I thought about 57.

David S Day 1 vs. Brad (LLL)

Welcome back, all! Happy to see that my branch is back with Ben’s, now all in Avalon.  4/6 to start out the season for me, which was better than expected. 

1. Combine :), D12. Happy this is right. I thought it had a chance but wasn’t confident. 
2. Victoria :(, D33. Actually also thought this had a shot, but no. Still, happy to just get one of the first two. 
3. Alaska :), D21. Third straight guess, though given the name, this one seemed likely. 
4. Kudzu :(, D22. Overthought this way too much. But were bugles really not invented until the 18th century?!
5. Heinz :), D11. Saw something about this a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise would have had no idea. If they had a commercial last night, I missed it, so not sure how hard this will play. 
6. Prince Harry :), D00. Easiest of the day, I suspect. It’s been everywhere.
