David S Day 17

3/6 today.

1. Magnolia :(, D32.  Now that I see the answer, I feel like I should have gotten this.  This may not play all that hard, but I think my D was appropriate given my opponents.

2. Jordan :), D11.  I think this probably plays more easily among this crowd than overall.

3. Brooks :(, D13.  No chance here.

4. Yahoo! :), D02.  Gimme.  Although highly unlikely, I hope people who omit the exclamation point don't get credit!

5. Crystal Palace :), D02.  I'm not sure I would have gotten this, but I recently read a book that featured it prominently in a couple of scenes.

6. School :(, D21.  No idea.

I was really confident this would be right even though I haven't read any Sophocles since high school.

Your Answer: Good Neighbor Policy

Good clue. I would not have gotten it without State Farm.

I am just a bit too young to have had any interest in LA Law

Brian Addendum

Sure enough, I can't remember anything my wife tells me needs to be done around the house, but I can remember old trivia questions:

Sep. 12, 2018: LL78 Match Day 17

The title of a Muddy Waters tune from 1950, itself a cover of an old Delta blues song called "Catfish Blues" recorded by Robert Petway in 1941, inspired the name of what rock and roll band?

Brian Day 16 vs Dave M

A lucky 6/6 today which I sorely needed, as these are all strong categories for my LL opponent, and another loss yesterday with 4 correct knocked me into the relegation zone.

1) Antigone  2/2  I don't have a good literature get rate, but I remember these ancient plays and epics from high school. (No David S, I was not in high school when they were written.)

2) Muddy Waters 1/3  Semi-lucky guess. I think a version of this was asked a few years ago as to what musical group named themselves after a Muddy Waters song.

3) The Blair Witch Project 0/1 Never saw this, but hard to avoid knowing all about it

4) Good Neighbor 2/1  Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.  No chance without that clue

5) Belarus 3/0  A guess between Belarus, Turkey and Syria, complicated by not knowing if Turkey was in the EU. I figured Belarus had been in the news more recently for unrest than the other two.

6) L.A. Law 1/2  I knew this after the first name.  This was must see tv in my house. (And I was in high school for this, Dave.  Well, at least the first few years of its run.)

Dave M day 16 v Brian LLL

Tough questions for me today, was lucky to get a 3/6 really

1 : ( Oedipus and Daughter. No idea and never heard of Antigone. If this is common high school fare in the US then my D13 will probably sink the game against Brian.

2 : ( Louis Armstrong. Again no idea. D32

3 : ) The Blair Witch Project. Also never saw it but remember the hype. D21

4 : ( Rollback. Couldn’t think of this one with either clue. D12

5 : ) Belarus. Current world affairs gimme. D01

6 : ) LA Law. Amazed to get this. Put it down as I assumed ensemble would be hospital or law drama, couldn’t think of any (not-long-running) hospital dramas from the time and remember my dad (a lawyer) watching LA Law at night when I was young, but wasn’t sure the timing aligned. D20
