M Mann - Day 2

Tied yesterday. 4/6 today.

1) Nehru gimme.
2) Range. What do you know - a math gimme! More please.
3) No clue. I said "I'm sad."
4) Said joule.
5) Murphy Brown! Yes!
6) Yup, got Dinah Shore.

Gideon Day 2

4/6 today
1 :) D1 Nehru
2 :) D2 Range
3 :) D1 All the world's a stage - This was a guess, but it made sense
4 :( D3 Foucault - I was guessing between this, Galileo and Liebniz. Liebniz would have been a great answer, because it can be associated with the Newton.
5 :) D0 Murphy Brown
6 :( D2 Kathy Lee Gifford

Ben Day 2

A rocky start indeed. It didn't take me very long to find the bottom place in rundle B. 8 point MPD against already. Through dumb luck and the vagaries of the realignment process I have been promoted to a position far above my abilities, from where I will almost definitely fall quickly and gracelessly. On the bright side, I won't take a whole country with me.

2/6 today.

1 :) Nehru. I think I heard of Nehru jackets from Weird Al.
2 :) range. mmm - delicious 0 pointer for me, no doubt.
3 :( I guessed What's done is done as I knew it was Shakspeare.
4 :( I wrote Newton, which of course is kgm/s2, so that was stupid. I have had stupid mistakes both days now. I've been pretty scattered this last week.
5 :( Should have also gotten this one. I used to watch this. Newsmagazine threw me off as I thought that meant print media. I guessed Veronia Mars. Pretty sure I guessed Murphy Brown for something a season or two ago.
6 :( I guessed Ellen. I knew nothing about the late Dinah Shore other than the fact that she lit the menorah.

As for the Sierra reminiscing, I remember playing Police Quest 1 on a pc at my mum's work when I was too young to know that you could move diagonally on a keypad, or how to change directories to navigate around the games. That, Scorched Earth and Catacomb 3-D were the games on the machine at her office. I also played at least one King's Quest, a Space Quest and Castle of Dr Brain. I think they also made Air Bucks.

Dave M day 2

3/6 today including a lucky guess on the Shakespeare one, leaving me optimistic.

Re Sierra Games, my favourites were Gold Rush, Kings Quest 5, and Leisure Suit Larry (although as an 11 year old to-be-gay guy I definitely wasn’t the target audience)

1.      :( Also went with Mao over Nehru. Was confident about it too. D0

2.      :) Range – will this be the most common right math answer? D1

3.      :) A very nice lucky guess. D3

4.      :( Also went with Newton, even though my understanding of what the Newton unit is differed substantially with what’s described. Bit of a trick question. D1

5.      :) A moderately lucky guess – I can’t remember any other newsmagazine related sitcoms with someone’s name in the title. D2

6.      :( No idea – went with (KD) Lang

Steiny Day 2

A ties yesterday on perfect defense against 3 right for my opponent and I only got 2 right

1. :) Gimme

2. :) One of the few math questions I know

3. :( I guessed Beyond the gilded cage

4. :( Guessed Newton

5. :) Knew this, used to watch the show

6. :( Guessed Cher

Jesse Day 2

Hey everyone, nice to be back.

2 :( D1 Green - I considered putting Mulder or Lovelace. I came up with Daniel Ellsberg, but knew it wasn't right.
