Tough day today!

Didn't think they were that much harder than usual today, but turns out I got ONE right...

1. I put Grand Theft Auto. Didn't know, but only game that came to mind, though I did wonder if it's even a racing game. I know there's bad stuff in it.

2. I put hope Hicks. Embarrassed to have gotten this wrong. But I think Hope Hicks was the good looking one and thought she left (they always do). But I'm less good about reading the paper in the summer and they don't even do press conferences anymore so what is this woman's job exactly?

3. I'm upset I didn't know this, but actually don't know much about him so going to learn some now.

4. Why is New Mexico appropriate, b/c she painted stuff there? Well what about all the vagflowers she painted? I put Florida which, though wrong, I consider a more "appropriate" location.

5. I put chorale. Really couldn't get it, though gettable.

6. Hairspray. Gimme for me and, it seems, many others.

Brian Day 4 vs Kim

2/6.  Knew one, guessed one, no chance on four.  Eked out a 2(2)-1(2) victory over Kim

1) Mario Kart.  1/2

2) Stormy Daniels.  I get all my White House news from twitter now.  1/0

3) Naive. They didn't get up to Ethelred in the Vikings tv show yet, I only know up to Alfred son of Aethelwulf.  2/3

4) New Mexico.   I had a strong feeling about this despite it being a guess, I thought I only knew that she painted flowers.  Hoping for some points from my weakest category  2/1

5) Aria.   I got stuck with the pointy end.  No points from my other weakest category.  3/2

6) Hairspray.  Such a gimme I worried it was a trick question.  0/1

Dave M day 4

2/6 today

1 : ( I put down Forza then changed to Gran Tourismo on the assumption Forza would be Italy only. D23

2 : ( I remember a ‘st’ in there so went with Sterling. Fiendishly good question from Thorsten, will catch out a lot of people I suspect. D12

3 : ) I didn’t know why he’s called the Unready but have only ever heard Ethelred paired with that sobriquet. D12

4 : ( I assumed this was a trick question so put down Georgia. Having seen the answer I realized I did in fact already know it was in NM but had forgotten. D31

5 : ( Random guess of Sonata. D00

6 : ) I knew Hairspray was set in the 1960s so seemed to fit well. D21

Ben day 4

1/6

1 :( rock and roll racing. Given that a video game exists by that name, I thought it would be correct.
2 :( Schulster. Is that someone in the administration? Where did I get that name from.
3 :( unprepared. Close!
4 :( Massachusetts. The weird thing is I thought I went to an O'Keefe museum in Springfield but it must just have been an exhibition.
5 :( fugue. I cantata ever get these questions right.
6 :) hairspray. Saved me from a donut.

Kim Day 4

2/6

Vs. IngramB2 LLL

1 :( Fast and Furious. No idea. I wish games/sport were different categories for D! D11
2 :) Stephanie Grisham. D11
3 :( Mercurial. D22
4 :) New Mexico. Next on my list of states to visit. D22
5 :( Aria. D33
6 :( Grease. Thought this had a good chance. Also considered Footloose, Fame, Flashdance, Stomp. But not Hairspray. D00

I guess I stopped listening to press secretaries? I have never heard of her.

3. What is the sobriquet commonly assigned to King Ethelred of England, whose reign began in 978? The epithet is actually a mistranslation of a word meaning ill-advised, though arguably it fits, considering he was placed on the throne as a pre-teen.

Good movie.

Seif Day 4

3/6 against two opponents who are about as different from me as could be.

1. Grand Theft Auto :(, D22.  No clue.  As far as I'm concerned, Forza is an Italian political party.

2. Grisham :), D32.  She may be the first WH press secretary never to hold a press conference...

3. Unready :), D23.  Didn't know any of the history behind it, but I've heard the moniker plenty of times.

4. New Mexico :), D11.  I got it from the scene in Breaking Bad.  Otherwise this might well have been the very last state I guessed.

5. Inversion :(, D01.  Nope!

6. Hair :(, D10.  Soooooo close.  But actually it was just a wild guess, so I can't be too upset about missing this one.
