Jesse Day 1, LL 72

Hi all. 5/6 Good start to season on what seems like an easy day. I was against some that graduated from a school of medicine so I 0ed what I thought was the hardest question.

1. Tavau is the local Romansh name for what fashionable resort town and geopolitical destination in the Rhaetian Alps?
Correct Answer: DAVOS
Your Answer: Davos
Points Assigned: 2

I knew Romansh was a Swiss language and Davos was the only geopolitical resort town that I could think of in Switzerland.

2. What is the full name of the man who assumed the position of Eternal President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in September 1998, despite having died four years prior?
Correct Answer: KIM IL-SUNG
Your Answer: Kim Il Sung
Points Assigned:2

I wrote them all out and wasn't sure if it was Kim Il Sun or Sung and went for Sung fortunately.

3. What actor died in 2008 during the filming of the Terry Gilliam fantasy film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which was completed with parts of the actor's role played by Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell?
Correct Answer: HEATH LEDGER
Your Answer: Heath Ledger
Points Assigned: 1

I knew who it was right away, but took me a while to recall his name.

4. In 1832, Sam Houston, formerly a governor of Tennessee, settled in what would become the state of Texas, where he would also become governor. Unrelatedly, in 1997, a well-known organization made a highly publicized reverse trip of sorts, migrating from Texas to Tennessee. What is the current name of that organization?
Correct Answer: TENNESSEE TITANS
Your Answer: Titans
Points Assigned: 1

Right away I figured out it was a sports team and had to decide between the Titans and Grizzlies. I knew the Grizzlies were from Vancouver so I figured it was the Titans.

5. The mammalian brain is typically classified anatomically into six lobes. Five are the frontal, parietal, temporal, limbic, and insular. What is the sixth?
Correct Answer: OCCIPITAL
Your Answer: pre-frontal
Points Assigned: 0

I have heard of this lobe, but there was no way I was going to think of it.

6. A coffee house on London's Tower Street was the birthplace in 1688 of a namesake center of shipping intelligence and marine insurance market that has evolved into a giant and diverse general insurance marketplace. What is that shared name?
Correct Answer: LLOYD'S
Your Answer: Llyod's
Points Assigned: 3

I just heard a podcast (50 things that made the modern economy) about this last week. I think I may have gotten it anyway, but that made it easy.
